SINGAPORE 05 SEPTEMBER 2016: Change is good, as they say – and the fashion world loves change. Get ready, as we’re All Set for The Now.
L’Officiel Singapore embraces the new season with open arms heaped with the looks and accessories that encapsulate the zeitgeist of Fall/Winter 2016.
Rather than reduce the season to a handful of trends or a cheat sheet of must-buys, we’ve taken a long-form approach to really delve into the story a designer presents in a collection. Shows have become increasingly elaborate theatrical expositions, and we look at how the venue, set and soundtrack come together to evoke the narrative.
“Many magazines, citing readers’ attention deficit, have whittled down their season reports to a mono-paragraph executive summary per runway show. Show, don’t tell, they say. We prefer to show and tell. L’Officiel Singapore is taking a stand in giving artists of the fashion world due credit for their aesthetic anthologies. And we have faith that our readers will appreciate an intelligent take on the collections and a report that expresses a point of view,” says the magazine’s Managing Editor, Grace Tay. “Kudos to our passionate writers Allysha Nila and Gordon Ng for digging deep and putting together a comprehensive report in our 48-page Dossier.”
Our outstanding cover spread, shot by Joel Low and styled by our Fashion Director Joshua Cheung, is 100% bold – defying convention and the autumnal palette and covered-up dispositions of Fall/Winter. Fashion photographers and stylists have shot exclusive spreads for us around the world, bringing their perspectives on the season to some 100-plus pages – and that’s just in the MODE section. It girl Kim Cam Jones, shot in Rio de Janeiro, is part of our fashion squad this issue.
What’s fashion without makeup? We’ve bumped up our Beauty section this issue to twice its usual size. Playing dress up is twice the fun with the transformative powers of makeup, as FAC3INC’s makeup artists and hair stylists prove in our stunning 10-page beauty spread.
And hot on the heels of ultra-exclusive previews held during July’s Paris Couture Week, amazing high jewellery commands the spotlight – or rather, headlights – in a high fashion shoot that took place in a car repair shop downtown. We discover how creative mavericks meet craftsmanship at some of the hottest brands in fashion, accessories and timepieces.
In our LIVING section, we look at what’s trending in the workplace (think co-working spaces; hot-desking and fun, flexi furnishings; breakout areas that encourage play, socialising and downtime to increase staff productivity).
“L’OFFICIEL Singapore demonstrates once again with this September 2016 issue, its strong creativity and acute view on the latest fashion trends. We are poised for more exciting times ahead, which is translating into the strong growth of the media’s digital numbers, particularly on Instagram, a relevant platform for fashion lovers. L’OFFICIEL is more than ever the leading high fashion medium” - Olivier Burlot, Publisher and CEO of Heart Media.
